Student Coaches
Instructions
All Student Coaches must have valid USAH numbers and signed USAH Student Coach forms prior to participating in on ice activities. All student coaches are required to be officially rostered with the team(s) they are acting as Student Coach.
Student coaches are defined as players between the ages of 13-17 years old.
*D10 only allows a maximum of 3 Student Coaches per Traveling team.
Timeline:
Traveling SCs will be added to team rosters as soon as their USAH number and form is provided to the Registration Director, but no later than 12/15. Student Coaches assigned prior to traveling roster sign offs will be approved on that date (typically last Saturday of October).
Mite SCs will ideally be added at Mite Roster Sign Offs (typically the first week of December) but can be added up to 12/15.
Any Student Coach added after roster sign off day will need to wait for D10 approval to participate on ice, typically 7-10 days after Registration submits the request.
No SCs can be added after the 12/15 deadline to ensure D10 approval by the 12/31 roster freeze.
High School Mentors:
High School players assigned to teams by the booster club will need to provide the same requirements if supporting on ice activities more than 2 times throughout the season.
The Booster Club(s) representative(s) will help coordinate team assignments, collection of USAH numbers, forms and contact info (email & phone) for the approved high school players. SC information is to be sent to assigned head coaches and Registration.
Due to the timing of HS team formation, the SC requirements should be completed prior to Mite roster sign offs.
Additional Information:
Student Coach forms can be signed by the appropriate CPYHA director or committee member at the level the SC is participating. The form only needs 1 signature if participating at multiple levels of play.
Student coaches are required to wear a helmet & neck guard on the ice.
If a Student Coach is to support the team on the bench during games they will count against the 4 Coach limit.
